For clients

  • I work on a no-hire no fee basis. This means you pay nothing until I find someone you want to hire. My fee at that point is 15% of the first year’s take-home pay for that person. The cost of each position successfully filled is equal to 15% of the remuneration package during a fixed term of engagement, up to 12 months. This includes any bonus, commission or other taxable benefits. VAT will be charged on the fee, if applicable. In the event that the engagement salary is less or more than the forecast salary, the necessary adjustments will be made to my fee.

  • My fee is calculated on the total 1st year take home. This means either we agree on a projected bonus element and my % is calculated on the total. Or, I check in at 6 months and 12 months for an accurate total earned.

  • I will invoice you the day the candidate starts working with you. You’ll have 30 days to pay the invoice in full.

  • Absolutely! I’ve placed several excellent producers in short and long-term Freelance and FTC positions.

My fee structure is the same but for FL I charge monthly on the total take home and for FTC I charge on the agreed period in full. On the anniversary of their first day- my fees are no longer due.

  • Of course you can, but I ask at the beginning of our working relationship that you share with me a list of people you have contacted or intend to contact. I will then consider these names off-limits.

  • If I introduce you to someone that you know, but you haven’t declared at the start or during the search, I would still be entitled to my fee.

  • Absolutely, but as I have introduced them to you I would be entitled to my standard % as a separate brief.

  • Things take time in our industry, so 6 months is not actually that long, and I would still be entitled to an introducers fee of 15%. If it has been more than 12 months since I introduced you then a reduced fee of 10% will be due up to 36 months after the introduction.

  • Then no fee is payable. But, bear in mind I have over 1,000 candidates in my connections portfolio. I speak to new people every day. I regularly attend networking events where I discover new talent all the time. The likelihood is that I have a number of possible candidates for your role.

As you interview for the role, we’ll all get more clarity on what you are looking for. Share your thoughts with me and I can revisit my connections to see if there are more suitable people for the role.

  • If the role is of a confidential nature I will ensure that I keep the position unbranded until I am in discussions with a few carefully selected candidates. I will also share your expectation that the role is confidential.

  • If you don’t have an HR team then I am more than happy to suggest model contracts, but it is your company’s responsibility to ensure they are fit for purpose. I am an accredited member of the regulatory body REC and use them as my frame of reference for legal outlines. As for other HR requirements, this would be outside my scope but I would be happy to refer some excellent organisations who could help.

  • For complete transparency my fees are calculated the same for each role, I offer my time for free in numerous ways that help new talent enter the industry and support charities in their mission - I consider this extra value that benefits my clients and which they don’t pay so I do not offer discounts to commercial enterprises.

If, however, you are a registered charity/non-profit I am happy to review this.

  • If the role is for a fixed period that is less than 12 months then the fee will be 15% of the total remuneration for the period of the contract.

  • Nothing is 100% certain when dealing with human beings. It is rare that a placement with Curious Connections doesn’t work out. I will find a suitable replacement for no further fee. In addition I offer a refund schedule as follows:

If the employment of a candidate is terminated by you or the candidate, the rebate agreement will be:

    1-4 weeks 100% fee refund

    5-8 Weeks 75% fee refund

    9-12 weeks 50% fee refund

  • Curious Connections has been going for 18 months and in that time I have placed 25 permanent candidates (plus dozens of freelancers) 98% have stayed put.

  • I work hard at this, not because it’s fashionable but because it’s my job. Please head to my DEI commitment to find out more in detail.

  • There are standard procedures that employers need to follow when engaging anyone. It’s really important to be clear and timely with reviews in the first months of any engagement. If you choose to keep someone longer than the probation that means they are adding value to your company and my job is done

  • The terms of the agreement span 36 months.

For candidates

  • Candidate questionnaire
    Send cv
    Schedule call
We start with a video call or cup of coffee in London
    Then I keep you posted

  • I definitely need an updated CV as a PDF. A website of your work can also be useful

  • Absolutely! I love this bit. I can also send some reference templates to help you find a format that showcases your skills in the most authentic way.

  • Nothing. I am engaged by companies, not candidates.

  • I have an invite-only jobs board. To access just drop me a line and I’ll send you the link. I also round up what I’m working on each week via Instagram.

  • It is rare that I only put forward one person, not unheard of though.

  • Transparency is all I ask. You find the job that makes you thrive, whether it’s through me or elsewhere. All I ask is that you keep me updated on your genuine feelings about a role as we move through the interview process. And if you are tempted by something else, just tell me so I can manage expectations and make sure you don’t burn any bridges.

  • Yes please! This happens a lot and it is definitely a big benefit for my clients that I meet people through trusted recommendations as well as through curated outreach groups who foster production talent from a range of backgrounds

  • I keep you posted throughout. I will stay in touch with my clients on a weekly basis. It does depend on the ambition of the role and the company status that we can precisely say when any offers will be made:

  • I don’t go far! I stay in touch periodically in the first 3 months and beyond. I will also ask you to call me with any updates good or bad so I can act as a sounding board if you need support adjusting to a new role. And then one day much further down the line when you are looking for your next role Id love to help you again.
